where to begin..
a sneak peek into how it all happened
This is our first post ever! I thought it seemed pretty appropriate to talk about us, and how exactly we got into 'this' [the bark bars]. Making soap isn't exactly something you'd imagine yourself doing when you're a toddler, or spend a bunch of time dreaming about while you're growing up. That being said, knowing what I know now, I wish I had started a long time ago.
One summer day in 2018, Amber had been down visiting. We had been going through the normal routine of getting all caught up after not seeing each other for a while. At this point, we had spent the better half of the summer being busy and not hanging out with each other. We were just sitting around my living room when we got onto the topic of starting our own businesses. Right away Amber and I both had made eye contact, knowing that we both were on the same page about this, but I immediately began expressing my concern - that I simply wasn't creative enough to think of a business idea good enough. I'm guessing now, you can about imagine what idea Amber had up her sleeve...
the bark bars!
I'll admit, at first I was like what the heck.. soap for dogs?? But the more I thought about it, the crazier it drove me. In most households (including mine), dogs are actual members of the family that you'd think were human. You wouldn't believe how many times I hear dog owners say things like "don't give that to your pet, it was made (insert another country here)!" The reality of the nature is, that the world needs better soap. Better soap for us, better soap for our dogs - which is why we started this journey.
After talking through some of the minor details -- it's soap making, after all, there weren't exactly a ton of things to 'figure out' -- we very quickly started meeting up to get our plan into action. It wasn't even 1 total week after we had conceptualized the idea, and we were already getting together to attempt our first batch of soap EVER (picture featured to the right). Now, here we are today, with something we never thought we'd have: an amazing friendship, a legit website and business, and a job where we're literally making the lives of our dogs (and hopefully yours as well) better. What more could we ask for?
